I’m 75 years old and have spent my life around good food — first training as a chef with Qantas, and later travelling through India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Vietnam. Even after moving into another career, my love of cooking never left me, and I’ve always prided myself on knowing how to use ingredients to create rich, authentic flavours for family and friends.

Recently I tried Gedera’s Sri Lankan Chicken Curry recipe packs after seeing them online, and I was absolutely delighted. The pack was incredibly easy to use, and the finished curry was one of the best I’ve ever made — full of depth, fragrance and proper Sri Lankan character. Making this curry using the Gedera (Home in Sinhala) was a breeze!! I regretted not learning from my mum how to cook Sri Lankan meals, as a male growing up, cooking was never important as Mum or our help folks did the cooking. Having migrated and marrying a non Sri Lankan Gedera kits are EXACTLY what folks like me were looking for ! The process is easy all the instructions are clear and easy to follow! This was my first time making the sambol. It was super easy to make and made loads. We served some with the chicken, pumpkin and green bean curries on the night and put the rest in a jam jar in the fridge. We’ve been happily exploring it with all sorts of dishes ever since. Sambol and scrambled eggs my favourite so far!

I bought the beef, chicken, green bean and onion kits. Cooked them over two meals and all were delicious. Love the dried coconut milk in many of the dishes. Tastes so much fresher when reconstituted than those that are shipped as liquid. Delicious flavours and super easily put together.

We absolutely loved the chicken curry and it tasted truly Sri Lankan! It’s very rare for store brought meal kits to achieve that. Gedera & co, you are amazing! Keep it up!

So good. So quick. So easy. Such depth of flavour and height of deliciousness with just enough effort (ie following the instructions and cutting the meat/veg) that you can say you ‘cooked’ and show off to your friends with this amazing flavour bomb. I hereby dub this my ‘comfort curry’! YUM!

The best curry kit! I’ve found that most that pre- packed kits don’t produce the same depth of flavour but this one was SO tasty and super easy to make. 5 year old and 7 year old also approved.

I had people over for lunch a few weeks ago and decided to cook Sri Lankan. I purchased a few of the Lentil packs and cooked it in pretty much 15 mins! It was delicious and just so flavoursome! My guests thought I was an amazing cook … 😉. Thank you Gedara and Co for the fabulous kits! Love them all!
